Chim Chim Chimneys provides thorough chimney, wood stove and insert inspections.
This type of inspection is the most basic and common type of inspection, performed many times each day and every time we sweep a chimney. It is essential to have this done annually to maintain your chimney’s overall condition and to provide a thorough examination of the entire visible system. It involves a visual assessment of the easily accessible areas of the system, checking for obstructions, buildup, or any structural damage that could pose a risk.
During the Level 1 inspection, Rodney will examine your chimney’s interior, exterior, and accessible portions of the flue. He will ensure that it is clear of blockages, excessive creosote, or signs of deterioration. If anything concerning is found, Rodney will provide the steps and/or guidance needed to ensure the system is operationally ready.
A Level 2 inspection is much more in-depth. It is a comprehensive assessment of the chimney system that goes beyond the basics of a Level 1 inspection. It includes the inspection of all accessible portions of the chimney, including attics, crawl spaces, and basements, as well as a video scan of the interior of the flue.
A Level 2 inspection is typically required when there is a change in home ownership, a modification to the system, the installation of a new appliance, a change in fuel type, or a flue relining. Additionally, it is recommended if there has been a chimney fire, severe weather, seismic activity, or any operating malfunction that could have caused damage to the chimney. A Level 2 inspection should include all flues within a chimney and their connected appliances.
